Through education, we at Vasant Pathshala is committed to empowering the rural community to imagine a better future for them and work proactively towards achieving it. The major challenges faced in education sector in rural areas are Lack of quality teachers, especially English speaking teachers, lack of transportation facilities, lack of exposure, much less availability of resources, limiting mindsets for girl child education and more. Pathshala is our intervention to tackle the above and bring quality education at the doorsteps for rural children.

Apart from education through books and classrooms, Vasant Pathshala also aims to accomplish various other objectives such as improving the standard of living, health, hygiene and nutrition of the children. We also motivate parents to be a part of the school and take part in various activities such as sports, cultural programs, etc. Through these objectives, we aim to turn these kids into responsible citizens of tomorrow who can lead self-sustainable lives in the villages.

Fill the gap of good quality English medium education to rural children. Our curriculum includes a lot of activity-based learning and learning through nature.

INDIA LIVES IN ITS VILLAGES

As per the 2011 census data, the rate of urbanization has risen from 38% to 43% in the last 10 years, which means people are moving from rural areas to urban cities. One of the major reasons behind this is the lack of good quality education in rural areas. Most of the schools in those areas lack proper infrastructure and have poor teaching faculty.

Samvedana’s most recent project, Vasant Pathshala, aims to act as a solution to this problem. The core idea behind Vasant Pathshala is to provide meaningful, good quality education using the English language as a learning tool. Since the school is located near a village, the majority of the students come from the agricultural background. The parents are either farmers or farm workers, and most of them urge their kids to migrate and settle down in big cities in the future.

Vasant Pathshala is working to give them an alternative that can help them develop their lives without neither deviating from their roots nor migrating to the cities. We believe that 21st-century skills should be the backbone of the education system in today’s times. Along with literacy, we aim to work on social skills, communication skills, digital literacy, creativity, vocational skills and more for integrated development of the student.
